Description

Algeria, a land where echoes of the past dance with the brilliance of the present, opens its arms to you with a warmth that whispers the pride of a free nation. It is not just a country: it is a poem etched in stone and sand, a song carried by the wind that caresses the dunes and memories.

Its roots are deep in rich soil, woven with a heritage where Arab, Berber, Andalusian, and Ottoman souls are intertwined. Every stone, every alley, every breath of the desert tells a story—that of a people who have transformed their scars into a garden of stars.

In Algiers, the medina pulses like a living heart, its winding streets vibrating with the scent of spices and ancient secrets. Archaeological remains, like guardians of time, stand with silent majesty, inviting us to read within their lines the epic tales of forgotten empires. And then there is the Sahara—oh Sahara!—an ocean of sand where the dunes sculpted by the wind sing poems of eternity. Its oases, emerald pearls nestled in the gold of the desert, are refuges where time stands still, where the soul is soothed, where the gaze marvels at infinity.

Algeria cannot be visited: it must be experienced. It invites you to tread its soil, to listen to its murmurs, to weave your own thread into the tapestry of its stories. Come and let yourself be enchanted by the magic of a land that has never ceased.

What you need to know before traveling to Algeria

Beverages:

As Algeria is a Muslim country, some hotels and restaurants may not serve alcohol.

Local Time:

UTC+1

Climate:

Northern Algeria enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate, while the south is characterized by a Saharan climate. The spring and fall seasons offer pleasant weather conditions throughout the country.

Health:

Health conditions in Algeria are good, and no special precautions are required, other than avoiding drinking tap water and preferring mineral water. No vaccinations are required for entry to Algeria. However, it is recommended to be up-to-date with vaccinations for DT, Polio, and Hepatitis A and B. We recommend bringing a small first aid kit including treatments for intestinal disorders, antibiotic cream, sunscreen, eye drops, broad-spectrum antibiotics, insect repellent, and bandages.

Currency Exchange:

The local currency is the Algerian dinar, divided into 100 centimes. Currency exchange can be done at banks, ports and airports, some hotels, and sometimes at customs. It is advisable to exchange gradually, as Algerian dinars are difficult to convert outside the country.

Dress Attire:

Regardless of the season, choose light, practical cotton clothing, as well as a woolen sweater for evening wear. For sightseeing, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, sunglasses, and a head covering. Shorts, tank tops, and provocative clothing are not recommended, especially for women, as “too skimpy” clothing may prevent access to churches and mosques.

Electricity:

The current is 220 volts and the plugs are European-style.

Photography:

Photography and filming are prohibited in museums and certain sites. Drones and binoculars prohibited.

Tips:

Tips at hotels and restaurants are included in our rates, as are tips for porters at the airport. It is customary, but not obligatory, to tip approximately €3 per day per person to drivers, and €5 per day per person to local guides, if you are satisfied with their service.

Customs:

The importation of foreign currency is permitted without restriction, but is subject to strict controls. Currency must be declared upon entry to the country on a special slip, which must be kept for all currency exchange transactions and presented to customs upon exit to re-export any unused balance.
